2020 AWFC SEASON UPDATE

AmericanWestFootballConference.com

The American West Football Conference would like to update the public and our fans on the status of the 2020 season. We and our member teams are continuously preparing and striving to play in 2020.  Being that we are a smaller league with teams only in 2 states, we have less coordination of implementing a season in less period of time.  We are also (only) at the whim of 2 state governments that have currently implemented and put in process the stages of reopening the states.

As public gatherings of 250 people or more is the 4th stage of getting back to normalcy, we understand that it will take some time to reach this point.  Working with our team’s arenas, we are constantly updating the schedule so we are prepared to get back on the field once health officials deem it safe.

During this down time we have also been approached by Mr. Sam Adams, former NFL player and new owner of the Indoor Football League (IFL’s) Spokane Shock. We have been having ongoing conversations to possibly play a few inter-league games this season, due to the IFL closing down for the 2020 season.  The decision to play these exhibition games will be tentative on the COVID-19 virus, more negotiations, scheduling and more internal conversations.

Please stay tuned for more information
